Clone Lessons Quizzes and Assignments in the New Courses Builder
Cloning Course Content in the New Courses Builder
Creating multiple lessons, quizzes, and assignments that follow the same structure can be time-consuming. To reduce repetitive setup, SMBcrm now supports content cloning in the New Courses Builder, letting you duplicate course items in seconds.
With cloning, you can instantly copy Lessons, Quizzes, and Assignments, including associated content and assets, then edit the new item right away.
What’s Included
Where you can clone content
You can clone course items from two places in the New Courses Builder:
Course Outline View
Each Lesson, Quiz, and Assignment row now includes a Clone option.
Editor Modal
The Clone option is also available from the sidebar overview inside the editor modal.
What happens when you confirm a clone
After you confirm:
- A cloned item is created adjacent to the original
- A progress modal displays while cloning runs
- Typical completion time is around 1 to 2 seconds
What gets duplicated
Cloning duplicates the key components you’d expect, including:
- Videos and all attached media
- Thumbnails (lesson-level and media-level)
- Descriptions and content body with the original formatting preserved
- Quiz questions
- Assignment materials

Impact for Course Creators
This update is designed to make course building more efficient and consistent:
- Speeds up course creation by eliminating repetitive configuration
- Makes it easier to reuse repeatable structures across modules (for example, recurring quizzes or weekly assignments)
- Keeps the original item unchanged, while the cloned item is immediately editable
If you’re building standardized course modules or rolling out similar lessons across different sections, cloning can help you move faster without starting from scratch each time.
What’s Next
A future improvement planned for the New Courses Builder is extending cloning across courses, so you can import content from one course into another to streamline building and reusing your best materials.
