What's New: Required Fields in the Chat Widget Contact Form
You can now mark any contact form field as required in the SMBcrm Chat Widget, including custom fields and dropdown fields. This feature applies to both default and custom form elements.
How It Works
The configuration process involves three main steps:
- Navigate to Chat Widget Builder
- Access Chat Window settings
- Locate Contact Form Options to designate mandatory fields
The system marks required fields with an asterisk (*) in the widget interface. Visitors cannot submit forms until completing all mandatory fields. When agents request contact details during active conversations, visitors must still fulfill all required field obligations.
Why It Matters
This capability enhances data quality by preventing incomplete submissions. The feature ensures that workflows and automation logic receive necessary information consistently, whether data collection happens upfront or through agent requests during conversations.
Notes and Limitations
- Default contact fields remain automatically required
- Existing widgets maintain their current configuration unless administrators explicitly modify field requirements
- The mandatory field enforcement applies when visitors initiate conversations or when agents request contact details during active chats
